I love the sense of discovery… That moment in a conversation when something said triggers a new understanding or pattern of thought.

Hi, I’m John.

A seasoned designer with over 16 years of experience, specialising in user experience, interaction and motion design, video editing, animation, and creative art direction. I’ve had the privilege of leading and mentoring designers, finding great satisfaction in helping others discover their strengths and grow in their roles.

My career has been a dynamic journey through the worlds of design, filmmaking, animation, and advertising, culminating in a deep focus on UX. I’ve worn many hats along the way, evolving into a well-rounded designer and strategic critical thinker with a diverse skill set.

In 2006, I began my career working on TV documentaries as a video editor, honing my ability to tell captivating stories about people. I expanded these storytelling skills into animation, motion graphics, and stills photography, using visual media to both inform and engage audiences with compelling narratives.

In 2017, during a pivotal period working in advertising, I transitioned towards UX and human-centered design methods. This shift has since become a driving force in both my professional work and personal growth, emphasising empathy and user-centricity as well as continuing to use data and insights to build narratives that provide clarity, drive influence and challenge the status quo in every project. I thrive in uncertainty while using my skills to distill complexity into simplicity, crafting practical solutions that meet specific needs.

As my career has progressed, I’ve been guided by my natural curiosity, a commitment to continuous learning, and a deep understanding of how human narratives can evoke emotions and influence behaviors.

I’m also highly detail-oriented and believe great design lies in the details.

I have a passion for photography. I love landscapes such as this, I was lucky enough to capture while hiking in the high mountains of southern Chile.
